Nestlé Purina’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond the word. We walk the talk—as a company and as individuals.

We continue to make strides in reducing our carbon footprint, and we’re not done yet.

When it comes to making our high-quality products, we source ingredients responsibly while striving to reduce energy, water, and waste from our operations. Our products are thoughtfully prepared in our factories, where 100% of electricity comes from our investment in solar and wind power. Our factories also work to minimize water usage and maintain zero waste for disposal, meaning all discarded material is sent to credible vendors who specialize in recovering the ecological and/or economic value of the material.

When it comes to ingredients, Purina supports farmers as they transition to regenerative agricultural practices for better soil health. Regenerative agriculture is a holistic approach to farming, which aims to improve soil health and fertility by restoring soil organic matter. Benefits to this approach include better water retention, increased capture of carbon (greenhouse gases), and enhanced biodiversity. By collaborating with sustainability experts and suppliers, we’re supporting the implementation of sustainable practices on farmland in regions where we source our high-quality ingredients.

Beyond the manufacturing of our products, we’re optimizing the packaging and transportation of our products using more efficient methods. We continue to work towards achieving 95% recyclable packaging by the end of 2025, and we’re doing so by incorporating recycled materials into our packaging. Tidy Cats litter jugs and closures are now made with 100% recycled content. Sustainable packaging design is important, but it’s not the complete solution—that’s why we, together with our Nestlé counterparts, support initiatives to improve recycling infrastructure, making recycling itself more accessible and ensuring that more materials can be recycled. Regardless of material—aluminum cans, plastic jugs, or shrink wrap, we provide guidance on how and where our pet owners consumers can responsibly dispose of their empty product containers.

We are committed to sustainability because we believe future generations of people and pets deserve spaces to roam, play, and live.  We know that we have to continually evolve and recognize there is always room to deepen our knowledge and commitment to sustainability.
